The World Urological Oncology Federation was formed in May 2005 by the leadership of 10 founding societies of Urologic Oncology from around the world. The founding chairman was Dr. Laurence Klotz (Canada). The WUOF has hosted an annual international conference in conjunction with the SIU, and initiated a number of important projects.
Today the WUOF has grown to 21 member societies. These societies represent diverse regions, economies, traditions, health care systems, cultures and ethnicities. Despite this heterogeneity, many of the challenges faced by urologic oncologists around the world are similar. The individual societies share a number of common goals, related to education and training, research, scope of practice, and collegiality. WUOF provides a formal liaison between these groups and an opportunity for members to meet and share ideas and solutions to common problems.
In November 2021, at the WUOF conference in Dubai, Dr. Peter Hammerer from Germany assumed the role of WUOF chairman.
WUOF CONFERENCE IS OPEN TO ALL REGISTERED SIU CONFERENCE ATTENDEES.
